iphone four. heavenly.

Posted in Apple, internship, journal, Life, NYC, opening ceremony, school, Summer by moesker007 on June 24, 2010

the new iphone 4 launched today, and oh-my-god is it lovely. i stopped by the apple store this morning to pick up my 32gb reservation and i can’t be happier! unfortunately, during the process of purchasing the phone, it turned out that i wasn’t eligible for the full upgrade pricing of $299 so i had to pay a bit more but it is 100% worth it. the phone is beautiful and i use it more than any other gadget in my life.

new york has been taking a rather large bite out of my wallet, opening ceremony and a.p.c. are both having sales which i’ve visited on multiple occasions over the past week. not only that, but i forgot how much it costs to eat/drink here. luckily i’m with apple still and have some source of income!

a random tidbit from last week while at jack spade. their photographer was in the store and took my information and some headshots to send to corporate for them to potentially use me in their next look book. that sure would be interesting, i definitely don’t see myself as model, let alone the jack spade type. i did, however, find the BEST grey crew neck sweatshirt on sale at the store.

my internship was crazy on tuesday but has been fairly slow the last two days. the other intern and i packed 16 suitcases to send with two of the sales reps to paris. they’re in france for the paris markets and wont be back until next tuesday which explains the downtime at the showroom lately. when they get back, it should be crazy again as we will be casting and shooting the next mens look book. hopefully all goes well, i should be able to help style the shoots and such.

i’m going to be moving into my friend craig’s apartment next month because ann has her mom and a friend coming to stay for the majority of july. he lives across the street from the big macys in herald square on 34th street. i can’t say i’m looking forward to dealing with the the tourists everyday though, at least i barely had to contact them while down here in the financial district.

the summer has been going fast. crazy fast. most nights emma, craig, ruth, ehnee or i hang out and the days are filled with work; six days a week usually. starbucks keeps me going (thanks dad for the gift card)! i’m in a bit of disbelief that i only have two semesters of school left. talk about scary.

that’s all for now.

i spotted myself on the opening ceremony blog today, click the link to see all the pictures from the chloe sevigny presentation.

back to the city.

how great, i’m back in new york! i started my internship yesterday and apple on sunday. both are great, i love working with opening ceremony. yesterday was the presentation for the new chole sevigny collection; models, make up artists and hair people took over the showroom, it was a hectic but fun first day.

before i started work emma, ehnee, ruth and i took a trip to coney island which was fun but probably the most trashy place i’ve been in a long time. it’s like a wisconsin trailer park on the beach, but i’m glad we went. that night we went out and had a good time exploring the lower east side. i don’t think we got to bed until around 4!

i posted some pictures to my flickr, be sure to check them out!

the jeep broke down a few days ago, it just wouldn’t start. luckily, allie used her aaa for me and we got it towed to a mechanic in our neighborhood. turns out the fuel pump died, sad. it should be fixed this afternoon, thank goodness.

yesterday allie and i enjoyed the beautiful summer day here in minneapolis by laying in the park all day. she had two finals to study for so we sat in minnehaha falls park all day on a blanket and soaked up the sun. i read an entire three-hundred page book, “la candy” by lauren conrad. it was a horrible book, never read it.

some classmates and friends of mine are in nyc right now pitching a new brand of underwear to investors which is quite exciting. they are having lunch with mtv communications now. way to go, makes me happy to go to mcad.

everything is secured and set up for nyc. i’m starting at apple on the 5th of june and will be working about 30 hrs/week there. allie is coming to visit the week after i get there. i’m going home to ashland the last weekend of may then leave for nyc on the 2nd.  it’s going to be a busy (and fun) summer!

school is work. work is work. internship is work.

lots of work right now, but all the stuff i am happy doing. school is nearing the end, i’m done may 7th! things are almost all ironed out for the summer. i’ll be living with ehnee in her downtown luxury apartment on the 25th floor :). i can’t wait for summer nights on her roof deck, i expect lots of good food, friends and fun.

i’ll be working at Opening Ceremony tuesday, wednesday and thursday from 9am – 6pm and (hopefully) at Apple 2-3 days between friday and monday. i have a flight from msp to lga on june 2nd, it’s a one way so i’m not sure of my exact return date but it will have to be sometime before mcad starts again in the fall (august 23rd)

allie and i decided we are keeping our apartment on minnehaha through next year so i’m looking for someone to sublet (if anyone is interested) or i’ll just have to be paying rent here as well.

thoughts have been swirling around in my head what to do for my last semester (spring 2011). after next fall i will have all my required classes finished and only need an externship (long internship worth 15 credits) or a study abroad to graduate. lately, i’ve been considering a study abroad in either london, paris or new zealand. we’ll see how it all works, you’re only young once and must travel and experience as much as possible! if that doesn’t work, i’ll try to find an externship in nyc again.

that’s all for now.

p.s. tom get’s his license in a few days. how crazy is that, goes to show how old i am getting. scary.

dirty chai.

dirty chai’s are one of my favorite drinks, chai lattes with as many shots of expresso as needed. yum. the past week hasn’t been too eventful, i worked at Apple for the first time in a long while. it was nice. things have just been busy between school, work and my internship. typical.

emma, nick, jake and i went to a fun dj/live screen printing party thing in northeast minneapolis last weekend. it was surprisingly enjoyable. ben and i went to a cooking class at williams-sonoma on sunday, we’ve got another one next week too.

i’m going to vegas for my internship on sunday and coming back late late wednesday night. i’ve never been to vegas, nor can i say i’ve ever expressed any interest in going there but it should be fun nonetheless.  i also got off work to go to nyc for my birthday, i’m going for the weekend of march 19th-22nd. it’s both sara and i’s birthday the week before so it’ll definitely be a good trip. jordan, james and aubrey are also joining us and maybe alison, zach and alyssa.

that’s all for now.

I’m in Chicago for the weekend with Autumn and Robin for my internship, and it’s going really well. I haven’t been in this city for years and don’t remember it being so nice! Particularly the architecture, almost all the buildings downtown are gorgeous. I came early early Saturday morning and am leaving tomorrow at 4:30 to hopefully get back to Minneapolis for class at 6:30. I got to go to eat at a couple great restaurants here, saw The Bean and did some shopping on Michigan Ave. It’s been just an overall great trip. The hotel we’re at is very nice, a small luxury boutique hotel that reminds me of NYC. Working at the show with Getrags has been great, it’s exciting as 3 managers of the lines we rep are here so I’ve learned a lot.

I’m tromping up to Ashland after my Tuesday morning class to get my crown finished then will be back in Minneapolis Wednesday night. Things also seem to be working out for Vegas, I’ll be going there in a few weeks for another show, the 14th-18th.  Check out the video below and my flickr, added a few new photos.

“I’m late, I’m late for a very important date! No time to say “Hello”, “Goodbye” I’m late, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!” -White Rabbit, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

I made the journey home for Thanksgiving which was very nice. Amy, Ashleigh, Jack and I ventured up to Duluth for black friday, which was chaos (as usual) but a good time nonetheless. I didn’t get anything for myself, just things for xmas presents. My mom and I went down to Minneapolis and hung out with Autumn and Robin on Sunday, then I hung out with Ben on Monday and flew back to NYC that night.

Now that I’m back in the City I’ve realized the HUGE amount of work I have to do before the semester is finished. My last day at Apple was today though, which is a big relief. Sara and I’s friend Aubrey is coming from Monday-Thursday then Alyssa and Marissa are coming from Thursday-Monday. I have final projects/papers in basically all my class this week as well. It’s going to be a fun week.

It’s finally hitting me that I won’t be back in NYC after christmas; how crazy. I love living here, this city is absolutely amazing. It’s going to be hard to leave, but I’m going to try my best to get back here ASAP. It’ll be nice to be back in Minneapolis though, around good friends, and I’m quite ecstatic about being back at MCAD. Things will work out as they should, they always do. I’m not worrying too much.
